The American television network Hallmark is famous for its entertaining films for the whole family. In this regard, it is unsurprising that comedies and melodramas about Christmas occupy a special place in the company’s catalog. With twinkling lights, cozy towns, and stories of love, hope, and holiday cheer, these movies have become a beloved tradition for many.
In this selection, I present the remarkable Hallmark Christmas movies that are sure to delight your heart and sparkle your season.
Hallmark holiday movies.
Time for Me to Come Home for Christmas, 2018
Kara and Heath are facing a tough Christmas due to the death of their relatives. They meet when landing in Oklahoma. He is a rich country singer, and she is on the verge of bankruptcy. It seems that this couple may need a Christmas miracle to find harmony.
Although the film Time to Come Home for Christmas has a Christmas theme, it is also stunning and has a classic melodrama plot—the story of an accidental meeting between the “prince” and “Cinderella.”
The actors were able to play so well that I believed that this was a love story. I’d totally be into it if they made a sequel about these heroes. Given the obstacles and the difference in lifestyle, it would be interesting to end it with a wedding theme.
Once Upon a Christmas Miracle, 2018
A terrible illness brought Heather and Chris together, but they made a real miracle of it.
Many New Year’s films from Hallmark are very festive and don’t feature the development of the characters and their relationships. This picture, however, strikes a nice balance. You will feel the inner world of the characters and the development of their relationships. There will also be a Christmas tree, cookies, decorations, and, in general, everything that sets the tone for this holiday in America.
Winter in Vail, 2020
After her uncle’s death, Chelsea inherits his cottage in Vail. She takes a break from work and goes to this quiet town, where she meets Owen. Together, they organize Strudelfest to attract tourists to the charming corners of the city.
This movie is perfect if you want to slow down, take a break from stress and emotions, and turn on something cute and cozy! You will love the color scheme, the landscapes of a small town in the mountains, and, of course, the love story.
A Timeless Christmas, 2020
Charles Wheatley traveled from 1903 to 2020, meeting Megan Turner and celebrating Christmas. And then a miracle happens!
The story is very romantic, sweet, and enjoyable. I love the theme of time travel and enjoyed watching this movie. I liked the chemistry and interaction between the actors. It turned out to be a nice couple, and it was clear that the characters were not indifferent to each other. The heroine played love well. It seems to me that it is hard not to fall in love with Ryan Pavey, at least a little.
Christmas with Holly, 2012
It is a story about Maggie, who moves to a small town and dreams of opening her toy store. Here, she meets a nice guy, Mark, the owner of a coffee shop.
The plot is interesting, and the film has many fascinating characters. I really liked little Holly, the main character’s niece. Also, it is a family film. There is no vulgarity here; everything is romantic, sweet, and family-like. The film itself creates a special kind and cozy mood, and isn’t that what we need on the eve of the New Year?
Snow Bride, 2013
Greta Kane is always looking for news. She is a gossip columnist for one of the Los Angeles tabloids. Her job is to follow the rich and famous, but one day, one of the senator’s sons makes her a marriage proposal.
Snow Bride is a purely classic melodrama about how one meeting can change your life and how sometimes a stranger understands you better than your family. I liked two things in the film, a damn attractive evil heroine and a small interesting twist at the end of the film, but otherwise, everything is quite classic, sweet and romantic.
Christmas Island, 2023
Kate Gabriel becomes the captain of a private jet for the influential Sharp family, who travel worldwide. On Christmas Eve, the woman must fly from Los Angeles to Switzerland, but due to bad weather, she is forced to land at a small airport off the coast of Nova Scotia in Canada. Kate will have unforgettable adventures in a town called Christmas Island with the charming air traffic controller Oliver.
In our opinion, the idea of the film is presented quite interestingly. Instead of hackneyed plots and scenery, we are shown something completely new: sunny Los Angeles, where there is no hint of winter, a character in a uniform, and an almost complete lack of holiday attributes. It is pretty unusual for such films. But don’t worry—you will see beautiful winter landscapes with holiday garlands.
A Merry Scottish Christmas, 2023
Brad and Lindsay, brother and sister who have long forgotten what it means to be a real family, travel to Scotland on Christmas Eve and immerse themselves in the true magic of this amazing place.
It is one of my best-loved Hallmark Christmas movies. In addition to beautiful views of Scotland and unusual Christmas surroundings, we are told a family story. But the director didn’t forget about the love line!
I recommend it to everyone who loves good melodramas!
A Biltmore Christmas, 2023
Lucy is assigned to write a remake of a Christmas movie. To get into the spirit of the original, she goes to the estate where the movie was filmed. After turning over the hourglass, Lucy suddenly finds herself in 1947.
Christmas at Biltmore is a melodrama with a surprisingly rich costume and estate setting mixed with fantasy. The film is very romantic, with the style of old Hollywood of the 40s and 50s. The main couple of actors often act in Hallmark movies, and I like the chemistry between them. It’s just what you need when diving into a melodrama and wanting to see those feelings come alive on screen.
The Christmas Ring, 2020
Journalist Kendra Adams tries to discover the love story behind an antique engagement ring engraved with the words “For Christmas to my forever beloved, 1948.” Teaming up with Michael, the grandson of the ring’s original owner, she dives into the legacy of the couple and the challenges they faced together.
It is a fascinating journalistic investigation that reveals a wonderful romantic story. I especially liked how the girl follows the trail of new information. Of course, as in any melodrama, not everything goes smoothly. But that’s how life works.
The Christmas Charade, 2024
Whitney, a shy and cautious librarian who grew up surrounded by security specialists, suddenly finds herself drawn into a world of dangerous adventures. What starts as a simple blind date becomes a wild undercover mission with the FBI. Now she must play the role of Special Agent’s girlfriend and help him uncover the plan of a cunning art thief who plans to steal the legendary “Christmas Heart” necklace at a holiday charity ball. As the action heats up, Whitney must tap into her hidden skills and muster up some bravery to stop the crime, protect her family, and keep the holiday spirit alive. But will she be able to cope with this difficult mission?
It is a fresh and unique film from Hallmark, bursting with kindness and vibrant colors.
Christmas Festival of Ice, 2017
Aspiring lawyer Emma intends to raise money to bring the ice sculpture competition back to the annual Christmas festival. It will reacquaint her with a family tradition and open up the possibility of new love.
The film turned out to be very light and very intense at the same time. It is a classic melodrama, not with an empty plot. It tells about people passionate about their hobby – to create real masterpieces from ice, and for the sake of their dream, they overcome themselves and find the strength to move on.
Jingle Bell Bride, 2020
A wedding planner ends up in a secluded Alaskan town and gets enchanted by the magical Christmas vibes, all while a local guy assists her in searching for a unique flower.
It is a light, romantic film with humor. I really liked the beautiful views of nature, and an incredible natural phenomenon like the Northern Lights made a great impression. Plus, the vibrant festival in that little town, with its unique traditions and the daily gatherings of locals during the holidays, was such a joy to watch.
In addition to the New Year theme, I recommend this movie for fans of films about pre-wedding fuss and career building.
Winter Castle, 2019
When Jenny arrives at her sister’s wedding at an ice hotel, her heart melts under the gaze of a good guy—the best man. But here’s the catch: He unexpectedly invites another girl to the celebration, shattering all of Jenny’s hopes for a new romance.
The action takes place in an unusual place—a real ice palace in Canada. Wow! I didn’t expect such a great idea for a movie from Hallmark. It is just incredible.
The film turned out to be very cute. It has a good, interestingly developing plot, a history of the heroes, and obstacles. Everything is revealed gradually, and the events have a certain logic, so it is interesting to watch.
