I avoided this show because it was too long (eight seasons!), but I gave it a chance when I had the flu and loved it.
I must admit it is a very female show. It attracts. The actors are superb. The vampire brothers are the ideals of male beauty. The heroine is lovely. And the soundtrack is incomparable.
The Originals ( 2013-2018)

It is a spin-off of the popular series The Vampire Diaries, which details the lives of several villains. The plot centers on the family of ancient vampires Mikaelson—the brothers Elijah and Rebekah. A century later, they return to modern New Orleans on the eve of the war between vampires, werewolves, and witches.
The series’ cheerful atmosphere will definitely appeal to those people who are delighted with “The Vampire Diaries.” It is an excellent addition to the story that began in the last season of the main series. At the same time, the heroes of the Originals are more mature, and their problems are more interesting than a love triangle.
Both men and women will like it!

The chemistry between this couple can burn out the light bulbs in your house. Girls, Matthew Goode is in fantastic shape.
Moonlight (2007-2008)

A lot is proper and respectable in the words and actions of the Moonlight characters. The project itself rises to a higher level of quality. It is unhurried, not dramatic, not provocative, does not splash blood, and is not oversaturated with reprisals and chases. It allows you to relax and enjoy Mick’s charming smile and story. Moonlight is definitely one of the best romantic movie series like Twilight.
True Blood ( 2008-2014)

Vampires become ordinary citizens, but not everyone has come to terms with it. It is a fantasy epic with sex and black humor.
Twilight is one of my favorite films—it is beautiful and romantic. But True Blood is not Twilight. It has lots of blood, passion, cynical expressions, foul language, and ordinary scenes from the “life” of vampires.
The heroes are alive, each with their own character and story, and that’s great. The main couple is fantastic. She is constantly smiling—he smiled a couple of times in all the episodes. She is day, and he is night.
Plus, the director added many unusual details to the plot.
First Kill ( 2022-…)

Calliope comes from a clan of vampire hunters, and Juliet comes from a powerful vampire clan. Both need to commit their first murder to become full members of their families. The girls fall in love and are faced with a choice: family or relationship.
The series partially references “Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare; even the name of one of the main characters hints at this. Here, too, two opposing clans meet, whose young members fall in love with each other and want to be together no matter what.
However, the series also fails to depict vampires and other supernatural creatures; some scenes are funny instead of mysterious. Watch the trailer and decide if you want to give this show a chance.

I have seen or read almost all of these! I’m holding off on A Discovery of Witches since I just bought the book a couple of weeks ago and want to read it before watching the show.
A Discover of Witches is my favourite too!!! I love it. Watched it with my husband and then with a friend too. The actors are great and there is a really good story line.
I have seen Vampire Diaries and enjoyed it. I think I saw some of the Originals as well. I’ll have to check out the others.
